Article on Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative by UNICEF
New mothers need encouragement and a lot of support in breastfeeding. Now a days, births are happening in maternity clinics and hospitals. These establishments are the first to be in contact with the mothers. They can set the example and implement breastfeeding to them.
The Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) is an act launched in 1991 by UNICEF and WHO to hospitals and maternity units to be centers of breastfeeding support to mothers who have just given birth.
